     The quote above matches the foundation of my work. In a spirit of partnership, I guide people in exploring and embracing life’s challenges instead of resisting them. We work together toward greater self-acceptance and a  deepening of self-esteem. At the same time, we embrace positive change and growth where needed. 

      I believe that each individual is capable of healing and growing toward greater health and wellness in all areas of life: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. I also believe that the very things we struggle with in life can be used for our personal transformation.

     When you seek therapy or counseling, it's usually because you are in pain. Something in your life is causing distress, and you long for relief. You may have tried many things on your own, and hopefully you have achieved some success. However, if you are feeling stuck and frustrated with the same old patterns, and if you are tired of being in pain, it may be time to get help. With therapy, you can get to know yourself better. You can learn to stop judging yourself, and instead, discover the basic needs that are driving your behaviors. With this new knowledge, you can move into a position to begin making healthier choices, for real and lasting change - resulting in a happier, healthier you.   

     My work is process-oriented, meaning that there is great value in the journey itself,  as we explore feelings, needs, motivations and thoughts. The goal is increased self-discovery and, ultimately, lasting and meaningful change.

     I have special training in grief and loss, and find that unresolved loss is frequently at the root of issues including depression, anxiety and addiction. Based on a person's needs, interests and readiness, we will utilize a wide variety of tools, ranging from cognitive and behavioral to the more philosophical and soulful.    

     I approach every person with deep respect, caring, and creativity. The work that ensues is sometimes gentle, sometimes dramatic – always enriching.
